Product Overview
Product Overview
What is a resin vat?
A resin vat is a key component of an MSLA resin 3D printer that holds the photopolymer resin. During printing, UV light passes through the release film at the bottom of the vat, such as FEP, PFA, or ACF, curing the resin layer by layer to form the model. A stable, durable vat helps the print process run smoothly, keeps resin flow even, and supports consistent model quality.
What Is a Quick-Release Resin Vat?
A Quick-Release Resin Vat is designed to make release film replacement faster. The film is secured with fixing plates and latches instead of traditional screws, so you can replace the film without a screwdriver or extra tools and reduce maintenance time.
The official Phrozen aluminum resin vat is CNC-machined, then finished with sandblasting and powder coating for high strength, durability, and long-term structural stability. It also comes with a pre-installed release film, so you can start printing right after installation.
Key Features
- Quick-release film structure: Fixing plates and latches replace traditional screw-based film installation, allowing faster film swaps without a screwdriver or extra tools.
- Large 2L capacity: Holds about 2.5 bottles of resin at once, supporting overnight large-format prints without mid-print refills.
- Extra-wide handles + pour spout: The large vat is easier to grip and carry, and the enlarged pour spout helps reduce dripping when pouring resin out.
- Full aluminum CNC body: CNC-machined aluminum gives the vat a strong, durable structure that helps maintain shape and sealing over long-term use.
- Sandblasted + powder-coated surface: Improves durability, reduces wear, and helps reduce resin residue sticking to the vat.
- Pre-installed release film: The vat ships with release film already installed, so no extra setup is needed before first use.
- Official compatible design: Each vat is made for its matching Phrozen Sonic printer model, ensuring the dimensions and mounting structure fit properly.

Product Highlights
The Phrozen Quick-Release Resin Vat is the standard 2L resin vat for the Sonic Mighty Revo 16K MAX. Its latch-and-frame release film design replaces traditional screw-based film installation, so you can swap the film quickly without a screwdriver or extra tools.
The 2L capacity holds about 2.5 bottles of 1kg resin**, giving large models and long prints more resin to work with and reducing mid-print refills. Extra-wide handles make the vat easier to hold, while the pour spout makes pouring resin back easier.
This vat only works with release film made for the Quick-Release Resin Vat. We recommend Phrozen PFA (nFEP) Film for Mighty Revo 16K MAX Quick-Release Resin Vat. This official release film is made from 0.15 mm PFA (nFEP) material with 97.5% UV light transmission.
The film comes with pre-punched holes and replacement quick-release silicone sheets to ensure proper alignment and tension. The Revo MAX also has a built-in release film life tracking system that automatically reminds you when the recommended replacement threshold is reached, making routine maintenance easier to manage.
*We do not recommend cutting an aftermarket release film as a replacement, since mismatched holes or uneven tension can affect release performance and print stability.
**In official tests, the 2L resin vat held 2.5 bottles of 1kg resin. This result is from Phrozen lab testing with Aqua Ultra-High Detail Resin (Graphite Gray). The actual number of bottles may vary by resin type.
Three-Step Film Swap
-
Open the fixing plates on all four sides and remove the frame.
-
Install the new release film onto the frame.
-
Lock the latches and press the fixing plates back into place.
For full installation instructions, please refer to the instruction card included with the product.
When Do I Need to Replace My Resin Vat?
Resin vats are built for long-term use, but you may need to replace the vat in the following cases:
-
Warping or poor sealing
-
Damaged mounting structure
-
Heavy wear on the vat surface
-
Loose or damaged release film locking plates and buckle mechanism, affecting the seal
If only the release film is damaged, you typically only need to replace the film itself. Phrozen PFA (nFEP) Film for Mighty Revo 16K MAX Quick-Release Resin Vat comes with pre-punched holes, so you can install it directly without cutting. This makes film replacement easier and keeps film tension and release performance stable.
Why Choose the Official Phrozen Quick-Release Resin Vat?
Using the official Quick-Release Resin Vat helps maintain printer stability and print quality:
-
Quick-release film structure for faster film replacement.
